About JAPANODE

Practical Japan travel guides, tools, and insights — built by people who actually live here.

Our Story

JAPANODE started from a simple observation: most Japan travel content online is written by people who visited once and compiled a listicle. We wanted to do better.

We are based in Japan. We ride the same trains, eat at the same restaurants, and navigate the same systems that travelers encounter every day. When we write about buying a Suica card or finding the cheapest eSIM, we are drawing on years of firsthand experience — not a press trip or a quick research session.

Every guide on JAPANODE is tested, verified, and written to give you exactly what you need — nothing more, nothing less.

Why Trust Us

Based in Japan

We live and work in Japan. Our advice comes from daily life, not a two-week vacation. We know what changes season to season and what stays the same.

Hands-On Testing

When we recommend an eSIM, we have tested it ourselves. When we say a route is the best, we have walked it. No sponsored rankings — just honest results.

Bilingual Perspective

We read both English and Japanese sources. This means we catch details, updates, and tips that English-only sites often miss.

Always Updated

Japan changes fast — prices shift, systems update, new options appear. We revisit and update our guides regularly so you get current information.

Our Mission

To be the most practical, trustworthy Japan travel resource on the web. We want every visitor to feel confident and prepared — whether it is your first trip or your tenth.

Who's Behind JAPANODE

Creator & Writer

Hi — I'm the person behind JAPANODE. I live in Japan and have spent years navigating the country as both a resident and a traveler. I started this site to share the practical, tested advice I wish I had when I first arrived. Every guide is based on my own experience, written in both English and Japanese sources.
